Home reversion schemes are a way of releasing equity in your home that involves selling some or all of your property.
This makes up about 1% of the whole Equity Release marketplace. In return, you get a lump sum along with a lifelong tenancy to remain in your home. The much more common way of releasing equity via equity release is with a Lifetime Mortgage.
There is no interest rate as the home reversion company would own (or part own) your property. If you were to go down this route you would typically get between 35%-65% of your property value, dependant on your age. The home reversion provider would then own the property and the deeds.
Many people do not like the idea of selling their property hence the more favoured option is to release equity via a Lifetime Mortgage. This is why independent financial advice is paramount.
